وأشار البيان الصادر عن وزارة الدفاع الروسية في 8 فبراير 2018 إلى الحادث الذي وقع في قرية الصالحية (الواقعة جنوب بلدة أبو حمام التابعة لقوات سوريا الديمقراطية في منطقة البوكمال)، وقال إنه ناجم عن أعمال استطلاعية للميليشيات السورية لم تحصل على موافقة من قيادة العمليات الروسية؛ وأكد البيان أنه لا يوجد أفراد خدمة روس في "المنطقة المعينة في محافظة دير الزور بسوريا".
